I'm jumping right into house pics and information about exhibiting in Brooklyn at The Other Art Fair in two weeks! The dates are May 16-19, and all the info can be found here. Michael will be in Booth 100, and I will be right next to him in Booth 101. We have a free ticket code; if you think you’d like to attend, just hit reply or comment, and we will pass it on to you. We are so looking forward to this show and could use a break from the long laundry list that piles up when you move not just your home but your art studios, too.
To set the moving scene and explain why you haven’t heard from me in a bit, it was all a big time crunch. We scheduled the house move on one Friday, and then the studio moves the following Friday. I managed to get sick in the process, but we pulled it off. Our builder got us in the door, but there has been a constant stream of workmen at the house every day getting things wrapped up. Our builder snuck in and managed to get inside shots of the empty house, as well as some very cool aerial shots of the house. He sent them over as we were packing up the other house, and we did a bit of a dead stop because we were amazed that we pulled this project off.
We designed this house ourselves from scratch, using books, Pinterest, and two artists' imaginations. We cut out shapes, moved them around, and even ran them by Michael’s uncle, who is an architect who drew a little logo that I went back in to tweak and embrace. To see the shape of the structure and how it sits on the lot from a different vantage point is uniquely gratifying.
I thought it would be fun to share some pictures the builder took and some after we moved in. We are NOT settled, as in we have not hung art yet! Hopefully we will get some in this week.
We adore out dining room lighting. We are hoping to get this large painting of Michaels up in the living area. We finally have room for large work!
We played around with how it might look but then we needed to lower the credenza.
I must have written 3, possibly 4, posts about the drama of our floating stairs not fitting (after several attempts and a few meltdowns), only to delete them to try to remain positive. It was incredibly hard considering the delay it cost us, but here they are. They finally look just like we planned.
Can you see some beautiful art hanging in this space? I’ll share more when we get some up.
It's still crazy to see it from this angle! Send plants!!!
Michael snapped this evening shot when he was out back one evening working on the well (Yes! Wells and septic are now a part of our lives!)
We will do a studio tour next! We are building out tables and storage and prepping for Brooklyn! Again, please be our guests at The Other Art Fair!
Wow so much great space for hanging art
Monica! Congratulations! It’s beautiful. I’m so happy and excited for you and Michael. 🥰
