Right from one party to the next...
with some books and videos recommendations added for good measure!
Hi! I have a full week full of news, full, full, full which is a good thing, but when you pick your tile grout colors for your brand new house via TEXT, you wonder if you are juggling one plate too many.Â
Mostly, I am in high prep mode for The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn.
I'll be there next Thursday through Sunday. Nov 9th-12th. I do feel like it has come together, and I am pleased with what I will be showing. Follow this link for information; use the code MONICAINVITE when grabbing your ticket; it will work all weekend. I actually have a lot of fun talking to people about my art and listening to how they react to it.
Another FUN event is on the calendar…
Open Studio: One Last Time at the Mills, a Sale and Celebration
Saturday, Nov 25, 11 AM - 5 PM
545 Pawtucket Ave, Pawtucket, RI, 02860, Unit C205 and A204
Micahel and I will both be hosting one last Open Studio, and I will directly quote from his newsletter because his perspective is so perfect,
So, before I pack up my paints, we are hosting one last studio sale and celebration - a chance to lift a glass together to thank the creative spirits that have inhabited this place. It's also a chance to come away with a souvenir - a painting, watercolor, drawing, or print from this chapter before I move on to the next. I hope you can stop by, it would be lovely to see you.
Isn't that just lovely? ...the creative spirits that inhabited this place...
We are right down the hall from each other on the 2nd floor. Most of the studios and businesses will be open over the weekend, so walk off your turkey (the building is big!) and join us.Â
For those of you tucking in at home…
or who are far away and can't get to any of the aforementioned events, I will share what's on our coffee table as of late. We are lucky to have physical bookstores to visit and rarely come out empty-handed.Â
A little bit more to keep you busy and curious...
I ran across this enjoyable video on YouTube about John Singer Sargent and some career-defining choices he made. I knew quite a bit about him, and I learned something new!
I want to watch this next...
A long talk from the Yale British Art channel featuring Jenny Saville. I ran across an excerpt on Instagram, and it made me want to tune in to the entire talk. She is inspiring!
I hope to see this exhibit...
the well-reviewed Manet Degas show at the Met Museum on the one day that the Art Fair starts later in the day. This always requires some inner resilience to get from Brooklyn to the Upper East Side and back in time for the first official night at the Art fair that is open to the public. We've done it before. We can do it again! You can follow the link and see a really good video from the museum on the exhibition, no crowds!
That's it! If you see me darting around New York and the boroughs, say hello!
If you want to come toast, celebrate, and pick out some art over Thanksgiving weekend in Rhode Island, please do!
If you want to collect directly from me, follow this link, or please reach out. I will be organizing a catalog of work for you all in conjunction with our studio move soon!
Sneaky Peak at how things are coming along…
For my paid subscribers interested in abstraction and watercolor…
I have NOT forgotten about you, the show in NY grabbed a bit of my attention (ok, a lot of my attention). Content, video (that I decided to reshoot), and slides are coming when I get back!
If you’d like to play along, you are welcome to become a paid subscriber! More information can be found via the subscribe button below.
Best of luck with your upcoming events Monica! Will check our those videos....sound interesting. Your build is looking awesome---so exciting! xx
